The staff at Hope Springs have been hurrying to keep up with the land as she unfolds herself for spring. Every day we see more beauty and life pushing its way into the world, and it is a sight to behold! Spring is also the time where we shake off the dust of winter. As it says in the following poem, The Enkindled Spring by D.H. Lawrence, we often find ourselves as on fire
and excited as the blooms themselves!
This spring as it comes bursts up in bonfires green,
Wild puffing of emerald trees, and flame-filled bushes,
Thorn-blossom lifting in wreaths of smoke between
Where the wood fumes up and the watery, flickering rushes.
I am amazed at this spring, this conflagration
Of green fires lit on the soil of the earth, this blaze
Of growing, and sparks that puff in wild gyration,
Faces of people streaming across my gaze.
And I, what fountain of fire am I among This leaping combustion of spring? My spirit is tossed About like a shadow buffeted in the throng Of flames, a shadow that's gone astray, and is lost.
To honor this beautiful time, we are holding a Walk and Work Day at Hope Springs on April 28th. Our invitation to our community is to enjoy learning about the land from our Land Manager, Chip and to spend time on some necessary land and buildings TLC! The event is FREE and open to everyone, just click the link to register. We hope you will join us as we honor the land in this way!
