Yoga Teacher for 10+ years primarily in the Anusara style.  She has spent over 20 years studying, working & teaching in the fields of health & fitness, natural healing, & metaphysic.  Sherry Joy is known for her inspiring, fun, challenging and healing approach to yoga. She has an ability to skillfully weave together alignment principles & inspiring themes with clear communication & playfulness as she brings sensitivity to the varying needs of each student.

Global Health and the Fight against Structural Violence:
The Case of the Mali Health Organizing Project

Anna NinanAnna Ninan the Executive Director of the Mali Health Organizing Project, a 501(c) 3 nonprofit that supports slum residents in West Africa in creating their own health programs. To date the Mali Health Organizing Project has successfully created community-based programs in microfinance, women’s literacy and empowerment, local radio, and community organizing training. Having finished construction on a local clinic, they are in the process of launching Action for Health, an innovative program through which children receive free health care in exchange for their parent’s volunteer work in the community.

Nia (neuromuscular integrative action) Class

Linda Martin & Trish FreemanTrish Freeman (R) and Linda Martin (L) According to Trish, Nia offers: Joy of movement, health and healing, strength, balance, personal growth, a sense of community and the list, goes on!  Having begun the journey to wellness following major surgery, she feels that she and her students are dancing down a beautiful path to healing. 

Linda says, Nia provides a consistent way to stay centered and energized.  She came to Nia after 15 years of running and weight training; and, wanted something more holistic and less hard on her body.   She believes Nia is one of the most accepting, non-intimidating, playful ways to fitness and enjoyment of life in one’s body.

Peace Education Program

Eileen BlantonRamzi SabreeEileen Blanton (L) is the Executive Director of the Peace Education Program.  She has 28 years experience teaching conflict resolution to youth and adults; and is passionate about creating safe places where youth and adults can solve their problems nonviolently.  Co-authored of Mediating Conflict she has been instrumental in increasing the level of fundraising and visibility of the Peace Education Program in her community.

Ramzi Sabree (R) is a former childhood participant in the programming provided by the Peace Education Program.  For the last two years, Ramzi has been a valued member of the staff.  His work consists of training conflict mediators, conducting conflict resolution class visits and being the lead facilitator and developer for the Navigators Mentoring Program.

Organizing for Social Justice

Yarrow & SusasnnaYarrow Willman-Cole (R) & Susanna Blankley (L)
Tenant organizers in New York City, they work to bring vulnerable tenants together to fight against displacement from gentrification.  Yarrow is from the Southern Ohio and has spent time working with communities in Honduras and Costa Rica.  Susanna is from New Jersey and has worked in Latin America and East Africa.

Dion SavageDion Savage
Is a Yoga instructor from Cincinnati, Ohio whose passion for health and well being spans almost 15 years.  At the heart of this passion is yoga.  I have found it to be one of the most proficient practices in creating awareness in body and mind, and in so doing effecting positive change towards health and well being.  His teaching is rooted in the belief that each body is different but that everybody has vast potential.
